Regional Finals: Season 59

February - April 2027

The competition heats up at the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Regional Finals! Top competitors from across each region go head-to-head across a range of practical and technical challenges.

The Regional Finals also bring together the FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year and AgriKidsNZ competitors as they battle it out for their spot at the Grand Final.

Season 56 is looking a little different

This season, we’re trialling a new format in all seven regions to look at ways that we can still find New Zealand’s best Young Farmer, but in a way that is potentially more streamlined.

These will be two-day events, with day one resembling the traditional District Contest and day two aligning more closely with a Regional Final.

 

Day 1 (Friday)

Similar to the District Contests, up to 30 Contestants will complete 10-15 short modules. The top 8 Contestants will move to Day 2.

Day 2 (Saturday)

The top 8 contestants from Day 1 will complete two Head-to-Heads, and a Farmlet and will compete in the Buzzer Quiz at the evening show.

The winner will move to Grand Final.

FMG Junior/AgriKids

The FMG Junior and AgriKidsNZ competitions will still take place on the Saturday of the Regional Final.
