New Zealand Young Farmers (NZYF) is proud to announce the appointment of Chloe Jones as the new Chair of the organisation.

Jones, 25, was elected to the position at the organisation’s recent Board meeting, replacing Jessie Waite who ended her 12-month term as Chair.

A Regional Operations Manager for the Upper North Island farms at Fonterra, Jones has been an active member of NZYF for eight years, holding multiple leadership roles including Chair of the Otago Southland NZYF region and Chair of the NZYF National Committee. Her dedication to supporting the next generation of the food and fibre sector has been evident throughout her involvement, and her promotion to the position of Chair is a testament to her leadership and vision for the organisation.

"I am honoured to take on the role of Chair for NZ Young Farmers. Our organisation plays a crucial role in supporting the young farming community in New Zealand to excite, connect and nurture young people in our primary sector by ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

“The NZ Young Farmers Board is a great place and environment to continue to give back to an organisation which has given me so much, whilst continuing to develop my capabilities within our rural sector to benefit our rural communities and for the next generation of ‘farmers’.”

Marton Young Farmers member, Stanley Fraser, has also officially taken his seat as an elected Board Member after being elected at the NZYF Annual General Meeting in July.

He was one of three NZYF members vying for the vacant position, elected annually on a three-year term.

Hailing from Ohakune, Stanley's background as a Chartered Accountant for Ātihau Whanganui Incorporation, combined with his strong connections to his family's sheep and beef farm and historical interests, brings a unique perspective to the board.

Stanley shared his motivations for joining the Board, stating, "NZ Young Farmers has played a significant role in my personal and professional development. I am eager to give back to the organisation by representing the interests of our members to ensure that Young Farmers continues to grow and prosper."
