This highly anticipated event brings together some of the brightest young minds in the food and fibre sector.
Contestants will be put through their paces with a series of practical tasks and theoretical challenges, all designed to test their understanding of the food and fibre sector and their ability to excel in a high-pressure environment.

Thursday: Opening Ceremony
All Contestants are invited to the opening ceremony. It's a great way to meet others, and get excited about the weekend ahead!
Friday: Practical Day
Come along for all the action! AgriKidsNZ, FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year and FMG Young Farmer of the Year Contests compete alongside each other through their practical challenges.
The Challenges
Contestants will be put through their paces with a series of practical tasks and theoretical challenges, all designed to test their understanding of the food and fibre sector and their ability to excel in a high-pressure environment.Exam
The contestants’ first challenge will be a 1 hour written exam where theoretical skills will be tested.
Modules
Contestants will complete a series of modules on Practical Day hosted by our sponsors and supporters. Each team will complete seven 15-minute modules.
Farmlet
Contestants will have two hours to complete a set of practical, hands-on tasks. They'll be marked on their ability as well as the quality of the task.
Speech
Teams will deliver a five minute speech on a speech topic given to the teams before the event. This will be done during their Farmlet.
Face-Off
The top five teams will move to Face-Off on Friday night. The Face-Off is a fast-paced quiz, much like FMG Young Farmer of the Year buzzer quiz.
