NZ Young Farmers is proud to support the NZI Rural Women Business Awards this year as the sponsor of the Young Businesswoman Award, celebrating the next generation of female leaders making their mark in rural Aotearoa.
For nearly a century, NZ Young Farmers has been dedicated to connecting, empowering and growing young people across New Zealand’s food and fibre sector. Supporting the Young Businesswoman Award is a natural extension of that mission. Across our clubs, contest series and with our alumni, we see first-hand the ambition, innovation and resilience that young women bring to rural communities and agribusinesses throughout the country.
The NZI Rural Women Business Awards shine a spotlight on women who are driving change, whether through entrepreneurship, leadership, governance, or innovation. The Young Businesswoman Award in particular recognises emerging leaders who are not only building successful enterprises, but also shaping the future of rural New Zealand.
At NZ Young Farmers, we believe strong industries are built on strong leadership. From farm ownership and agribusiness management to technology, finance, education and governance, young women are playing an increasingly visible and influential role across the sector. By sponsoring this award, we are proud to help acknowledge and amplify their achievements.
The Young Businesswoman Award also aligns closely with our broader commitment to creating pathways and opportunities. Through our 60+ clubs nationwide, the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Contest Series, and our TeenAg and alumni networks, NZ Young Farmers supports leadership development at every stage — from school-aged students through to established professionals. We see the Awards as another important platform that encourages young women to step forward, be recognised, and inspire others.
Recognition matters. Celebrating success stories helps build confidence and sends a powerful message to the next generation that there is space for them at the decision-making table, on farms, in boardrooms and within their communities.
“We’re proud to back young rural businesswomen because they’re driving innovation, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of New Zealand agriculture.”
Cheyne Gillooly, CEO of NZ Young Farmers
Together, we can continue to foster leadership, encourage entrepreneurship, and ensure rural New Zealand remains vibrant, innovative and future-focused.
Congratulations to all finalists and entrants in this year’s Awards. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and supporting your continued success.
