The Food & Fibre Discovery Challenge is designed to help students explore the wide range of careers and opportunities across New Zealand’s food and fibre sector through fun, interactive activities at agricultural field days and other community events. 

Originally developed by Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) in 2020, the challenge was recreated through a partnership between B+LNZ and NZ Young Farmers to help connect students with industry and showcase the people, businesses and skills that make up the sector.  

Building on this initiative, NZ Young Farmers has developed two generic resources that teachers can use to engage students at field days and other similar events:

• Food & Fibre Discovery Challenge – Secondary School Resource: A scavenger hunt-style activity. 
• Food & Fibre Field Day Bingo – Primary School Resource: A fun, accessible bingo activity for younger students. 

Both resources are designed to make field days and similar events more engaging and educational, helping students make connections with industry and discover the many possibilities within New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.
