Cam Clayton is a practical, methodical Waikato farmer known for his calm, problem-solving approach both on-farm and in competition. Raised on a dairy farm with four siblings, he went on to build a decade-long career in shepherding and farm management across the South Island, including time mustering cattle in Canada.
He now runs a mixed farming operation near Hamilton, growing his business alongside his fiancée, Emma. Cam is also a Hereford stud breeder and leases more than 400 hectares running dairy grazers and sheep.
This is his final year competing in the FMG Young Farmer of the Year due to age limits, and he’s treating it as his strongest attempt yet after missing out last season.
Outside of farming, he enjoys hockey, running, and spending time in the outdoors.
