Rules and Conditions of Entry

- Be enrolled in Primary or Intermediate School and be aged 8-13 years only – as of 1 February 2027. The contestants do not need to attend the same school to make up an AgriKidsNZ team.
- Enter the contest for the region in which their school is located. If there is a need to compete out of the region, an application must be put forward to the New Zealand Young Farmers (NZYF) Events Team for deliberation and may be accepted in serious cases, however, they cannot be awarded a placing.
- Not be a previous winner of an AgriKidsNZ Contest Grand Final.
- Pay the entry fee of $15 per team.
2. Contestants will compete in teams of three.
3. Each school is entitled to enter up to five teams into a Regional Final. However, at the NZYF Events Team’s sole discretion, schools may be invited to enter additional teams into the Regional Contest in the event there is the capacity to do so. All entries must be received at least (1) one week prior to the start of the contest.
4. All contestants will:
- Compete at their own risk.
- Undertake all activities in a safe manner; and
- Do nothing to bring the contest, its sponsors, judges, and organisers into disrepute and will behave in a proper manner befitting such a contest at all times.
- Agree and abide by all NZYF health and safety policies and procedures
- Be accompanied by a supervisor. A supervisor is a person aged over 18 who is responsible for their contestants and their wellbeing at all times during the contest. NZYF cannot provide this supervision during the contest.
5. Contestants agree to arrive at the contest venues no later than the time notified.
6. The contest venues are out of bounds for contestants in the two days prior to the contest at the Regional and Grand Final stages.
7. Contestants will not communicate with any member of the public regarding contest challenges or content during the contest. (This includes parents and other family members.) Teams risk disqualification or point(s) deduction if they are deemed to have gained an advantage through a breach of this rule.
8. At the Regional Final level, immediate family members of AgriKidsNZ officials can compete, however, they cannot be awarded a placing or receive any prizes unless they complete a Conflict-of-Interest Form prior to competing and have approval from the NZYF Events Team.
9. Contestants must disclose any relationship that they have with any module host
10. The top three teams in each Regional Final will qualify for the Grand Final. If the first, second or third-placed team cannot attend the Grand Final, then the next highest-placed team from that region will qualify for the Grand Final as a substitute.
11. If, for a valid reason, one member of the team cannot compete at Grand Final level, the team is able to have one person as a reserve member. However, this will be at the sole discretion of the NZ Young Farmers events team, and this member must adhere to these guidelines.
12. Contestants must respect all decisions and requests made by AgriKidsNZ officials. At all times, the judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
13. Prizes are to be accepted as awarded, and no other product or cash in lieu of the prize shall be negotiated for.
14. Each team is responsible for their own costs incurred in relation to the contests. No costs incurred by contestants (including travel costs) will be payable by NZYF.
15. Teams must not erect or display school marquees at the event
16. Winners who receive the AgriKidsNZ Champions Trophy at the Grand Final must arrange for its return to the NZYF National Office in a clean state by the end of May the following year. Any damage or loss of the trophy will be the responsibility of the current trophy holder(s). The NZYF National Office reserves the right to invoice the current trophy holder(s) for repair or replacement as required.
17. Photography, filming and publication

Contestants may be photographed and filmed during AgriKidsNZ events. NZYF and its sponsors may use this material for promotional purposes, including on websites, social media, newsletters, and in print and media materials.

Names and schools of placed teams and winners may be published with contest results.

By entering a team, the supervisor confirms that they are the parent or legal guardian of each contestant, or that they have obtained the consent of each contestant's parent or guardian, for the matters in rules a and b.

If a parent, guardian or supervisor does not want a contestant photographed or filmed by NZYF, they should tell the NZYF Events Team before the event at events@youngfarmers.co.nz, or on the day at the registration desk. NZYF will make reasonable efforts to avoid photographing or filming that contestant. This does not affect the contestant's ability to take part.

Consent may be withdrawn for future use at any time by emailing events@youngfarmers.co.nz. NZYF will remove material it reasonably can on request, including images and names, although material although material already published, shared by others, or captured by third-party services such as web archives or search engines may not be able to be recalled.
18. The Contestant and supervisor acknowledge and agree that NZYF may request, use, collect, store and share their personal information in line with NZYF’s privacy policy. The Contestant and supervisor also acknowledge that NZYF uses external systems to gather registration information (such as Humanitix) and that personal information gathered by these external systems will be shared with NZYF. NZYF accepts no liability for the error, fault or omission of these external systems. You may access or request correction of your information by contacting the NZYF Events Team at events@youngfarmers.co.nz.
NZYF reserves the right to end any competition or amend the rules at any time.
Failure to adhere to these ‘Rules and Conditions of Entry’ can result in point deductions or disqualification. This is at the NZ Young Farmers Events Teams’ discretion.
