Young Farmers gear up for Dairy Industry Awards

New Zealand Young Farmers congratulates all finalists taking part in this weekend’s Dairy Industry Awards. Ten of the thirty-three finalists have been closely associated with the Young Farmers organisation in recent years.
New Zealand Young Farmers CEO, Terry Copeland says “The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards goes from strength to strength each year. I am proud to see so many NZ Young Farmers members listed among the finalists in Auckland this weekend. The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards and New Zealand Young Farmers both strive to showcase excellence in our Primary Industry and I wish all finalists the best of luck this weekend.”
Competing in New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year section; James Davidson (Canterbury/North Otago), Grace Stephenson (Hawke’s Bay/Wairarapa), Blake Moore (Manawatu), Michael McCombs (Taranaki) and Brett Steeghs (Waikato).
The New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year section sees Karla Frost (Northland), Jodie Mexted (Bay of Plenty) and Paul and Kate Manion (Waikato) battling it out with the nation’s best to take the title.
Representing Canterbury/North Otago in the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year is Justin and Melissa Slattery who have also been affiliated with Young Farmers.
Judging has taken place over the past two weeks, as judges have visited the sharemilker/equity farmer and farm manager contestants on their farms. However, the final judging component will take place tomorrow when all the finalists will participate in an interview.
The winners will be announced at the sold out National Awards Dinner at Sky City.
