A Wairarapa TeenAg club is showing its big heart by running a fundraiser this weekend to help another club head to the Grand Final of the TeenAg competitions in Timaru.

The Wairarapa College club is hosting a Mudrun on Sunday in an effort to raise money for their own activities but also to help get the Rathkeale College TeenAg club to Timaru take part in national finals of the TeenAg Contest, during the FMG Young Farmer of the Year.

Club chairperson Toni Cottle said raising money for the two boys was part of the 'spirit of togetherness' TeenAg and New Zealand Young Farmers (NZYF) fostered.

Rathkeale College competitors Callum and Archie Woodhouse, alongside Napier Boys High School have won the right to represent the East Coast TeenAg region at the final where they will be tested by a number of agricultural modules in front of a large crowd.

However, competitors have to fund their own way to the final.

"It would be good to raise enough to get the boys to Timaru," Miss Cottle said.

The Mudrun will be held at Nghere Station at Wanuioru and will feature dams, obstacles and of course mud!

At three kilometres long the event will be a true test of endurance, but with over 100 entries already and a limit of 350 allowed to compete, it's proving to be popular.

With thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs Miss Cottle who is also deputy head girl of Wairarapa College, was hoping the club would make a significant amount of money.
